Elf - The Musical New braunfels reviews
ELF! may leave you with some explaining to do
The show was fun and entertaining. The signing and dancing very good. Elf was not exactly like I pictured him, as he was shaped a little more like Santa than Will Ferrel. Perhaps hitting those 4 elf food groups a bit too hard! Little Michael and Jovie had amazing voices! And Deb was adorable in her role!
The one thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the Central Park scene toward the end. There were 2 actors portraying a gay couple, (were they acting?), that were seriously fawning all over each other to the point that it was distracting. My daughter said she thought they were going to start kissing. It was a bit much and completely unnecessary and honestly upstaged the others sharing the stage with them. To me it cheapened the whole play in a blatant attempt to squeeze in this homosexual display of affection. In a children's play. There was just no point to it. In fact it was tasteless and inappropriate... just as it would have been inappropriate for a heterosexual couple to be acting like that during this particular show.
